About Me

Hey, what’s up?

I’m Destiny, ‘The OutCast Cook.’

This blog started as finding a need to be filled in the cooking community. My family and I spend a lot of time at our hunting camp, and while I love being there, I wanted to find something for myself to do there. I’ve always enjoyed cooking, and I wanted to make it “my thing” to make good food over the fire. When I would search “campfire recipes,” the top recipes are a queso (with velveta?!) and variations of smores. Or, you get a husky middle-aged man aggressively telling you how he makes the best meat. There is no in-between.

I came to the realization that you really can make whatever you want over the fire and made it my mission to do so. This blog is my creative outlet, where I share my wholesome, good-for-your-soul recipes. Most recipes will have a story behind what inspired me to create it. I love using cast-iron, packing on flavor, using local and quality ingredients, and am known to splash in whatever I’m sipping on. This is my place to be myself, and share what I learn along the way from cooking over the fire, creating recipes to the behind-the-scenes of food blogging.

I am glad you are here, and I hope I spark some creativity within you.
